‘Pathetic’, ‘Joke’, ‘Finishing bottom’ – Many West Brom fans fume over Bilic transfer update
West Brom fans on Twitter are worried by Slaven Bilic’s latest discussion about the club’s approach to the transfer window this summer.
It has been widely reported that West Brom’s transfer budget is around £25million despite them winning a lucrative promotion to the Premier League worth £170million.
Speaking to the Express and Star, former chief executive Mark Jenkins revealed that £20million has already been paid out in bonuses and in transfer clauses to other clubs while matchday income has taken a severe hit due to the coronavirus pandemic.
West Brom have usually always taken a reserved approach to transfer business in the Premier League but it seems that the spending will be very low this summer based on reports and what Bilic has recently told the Croatian media.
“We don’t have that much money yet. I expected we would have more. I told the owners that we had done a harder job, but also that we had to do something now,” Bilic told Croatian news outlet Index HR.
West Brom fans are not very pleased by Bilic’s revelation.
One has called owner Guochuan Lai “pathetic” for not providing financial backing to the Croatian manager while others are worried about his future in the dug-out.

West Brom have never been big spenders.
Even in the Championship, they made sure they moved players on before bringing in new ones, not spending outside of their means as other second-tier clubs have done in recent years.
The Baggies are a tightly-run ship and while we would have expected more promising news about a big transfer budget this summer, the circumstances are similar for a lot of teams in the Premier League.
