Reliable journalist details ‘plenty of interest’ in West Brom midfielder

West Brom will need to sell a number of players in order to significantly raise their transfer budget this summer.

The Telegraph have reported that senior options such as Kieran Gibbs, Kenneth Zohore and Oliver Burke could leave the Hawthorns.

As well as those three, the academy duo of Sam Field and Jonathan Leko could be told they can leave the midlands.

All five have failed to make a massive impact under Slaven Bilic, with Gibbs the only one who could say he played a hand in last season’s promotion to the Premier League.

Field spent the majority of last season on loan at Charlton and made a great impression despite picking up a serious injury midway through the campaign.

Express and Star journalist Joseph Masi has admitted that he won’t be short on options this summer, and plenty of suitors could arise.

“Field is likely to have to battle fellow academy graduate Rekeem Harper for a place in Slaven Bilic’s matchday squad,” he wrote.

“But the Express & Star understands there is plenty of interest in him from elsewhere.”

Based on this update it looks like Field or Rekeem Harper will take one of the final spots in Bilic’s squad next season.

When you compare the two from last season via WhoScored, Field certainly staked his claim to be at the Hawthorns.

The 22-year-old averaged more tackles, interceptions and clearances per game according to WhoScored, but he also impressed going forward.

Field completed more dribbles and key passes and could find himself unlucky to be on the chopping block this summer, but Bilic may have to be ruthless.
