West Brom have not offered Slaven Bilic a new contract since he led the club to promotion back to the Premier League, according to The Athletic journalist Steve Madeley.

Bilic, 51, signed a two-year contract when he agreed to become the Baggies' new manager last summer, meaning that his deal does not run further than the end of the upcoming 2020/21 Premier League season.

On The Athletic website, Madeley was asked whether Bilic has been offered fresh terms by the club in a bid to tie him down past the end of next season.

However, it does not seem to be a burning issue for West Brom just yet.

Madeley wrote: "Nothing yet. I suspect adding [players] is No.1 priority at the moment."

It would not be a shock to see Luke Dowling enter talks about a new contract for Bilic once the transfer window closes.

That way, the club will be able to focus all their efforts on signing new players and see what money they have left in the bank to make an attractive new offer to Bilic.

It also gives the club the chance to assess how Bilic has started the season at West Brom and whether he is worth a new contract or not.

Right now, we would urge West Brom to offer the former West Ham manager whatever he wants to ensure he stays at The Hawthorns for as long as possible because he is one of the best managers we have had in a long time.

However, what the club really doesn't want to do is jump the gun.

We've seen time and time again over the years that they are quick to sack managers if things are not going right.

We don't want to talk too deeply about anything like that because it's all hypothetical at the moment but this will most likely be the thought process of the West Brom hierarchy.
