West Brom reject loan offer for attacker who wants to quit the club – report
West Brom have rejected a 12-month loan offer for attacker Oli Burke, according to the Express & Star.
The newspaper reports that Burke, 23, is attracting attention from across Europe as he looks to quit The Hawthorns this summer, three years after joining in a £15million deal from RB Leipzig.
Burke is wanted in England, Spain, Germany and Turkey, with Eddie Newton’s Trabzonspor one of the clubs who are keen on the Scotland international.
It is understood that West Brom are willing to part company with Burke this summer but want to sell the attacker permanently.
An unnamed club has reportedly offered to take him on a 12-month loan but the Baggies have rejected that approach.
Pretty much every West Brom fan wants to see Burke offloaded this summer.
The 23-year-old arrived at The Hawthorns in 2017 with a lot of promise but has since gone on to make just 24 appearances for the club.
Tony Pulis didn’t really fancy him in the Premier League and Darren Moore didn’t seem to rate him in the Championship before sending him on loan to Celtic in January 2019.
At Celtic, Burke failed to impress but he did suffer a change in management as Brendan Rodgers quit to join Leicester not long after signing the ex-Nottingham Forest forward.
Burke has had a tough time since joining West Brom and maybe he just needs a change of scenery to get his career back on track.
During his loan spell at Alaves last season, the Scottish attacker managed to get regular football for the first time in a long time as he made 32 appearances in all competitions.
It would not shock us if Alaves are one of the teams who are being linked with him again this summer.
In other West Brom news, the club has confirmed a pre-season friendly will take place next week.
