West Brom swap deal on the cards to sign forward, 23-yr-old exit mooted – reliable journalist
West Brom and Sheffield United could strike a swap deal for Callum Robinson and Oliver Burke this summer, according to Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist reported on his personal Twitter account on Sunday that the Baggies want to re-sign Robinson, 25, on a permanent basis from the Blades after a successful half-season loan at The Hawthorns in the Championship.
It is understood that a swap deal is “in the air” with Sheffield United keen to take £15million Albion flop Burke.
There has to be a catch here.
Since joining West Brom in 2017 from RB Leipzig, Burke has done nothing of note and not really impressed while out on loan at both Celtic and Alaves too.
When he arrived at The Hawthorns when Tony Pulis was in charge, Burke was rated as one of the best young British players but we have not seen any improvement from him in the last few years.
Maybe he is still clinging onto that reputation somehow and Chris Wilder believes he can improve the misfiring Scotsman.
Other clubs seem to be keen on Burke too with the Express & Star reporting that the attacker is wanted by clubs England, Spain, Germany and Turkey while a loan bid for him has also been rejected.
Swapping Burke for Robinson, who helped West Brom win promotion last season, seems like an opportunity that the Baggies should pounce on with Robinson doing more in a few months at The Hawthorns than Burke has done in three years.
In other West Brom news, Albion are in talks over another forward’s potential exit.
