‘We’re having a shocker’ – Many West Brom fans fume over ‘Lazy player’ transfer report

West Brom fans are less than pleased by reports that the club has accepted bids of £1million for Jonathan Leko.

Telegraph journalist John Percy reported on his personal Twitter account on Monday that Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday have agreed fees with the Baggies.

Express & Star reporter Joseph Masi added that two other clubs have had offers accepted by Albion but did not name them.

Leko has been on the books at West Brom for 10 years after rising through the ranks of their academy to earn 23 first-team appearances in all competitions.

The young forward has also been on loan at Bristol City and, most recently, Charlton, who he joined last summer on a season-long deal.

However, that loan was cut short early due to a serious injury which the attacker is still recovering from.

Leko’s now in the final year of his contract and West Brom are ready to cash in on the 21-year-old – but the fee has raised concerned among sections of supporters.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

We understand that a £1million fee isn’t that great but when you consider everything, it makes a lot of sense.

Due to coronavirus, the transfer market is not in a great state so fees are down from what they would usually be.

Leko’s also in the final year of his contract, recovering from a serious injury and never really impressed in the Albion first-team when he played in the Championship in 2018/19.

In other West Brom news, fans are happy with an update which says a player could be leaving the club in a potential swap deal.
