West Brom agree fee to sell forward to West Midlands rivals – reliable journalist

West Brom have agreed to sell Jonathan Leko to Birmingham City for £1million, according to Telegraph journalist John Percy.

The reporter wrote on his personal Twitter account on Monday that Albion have also agreed a similar fee with Sheffield Wednesday.

Leko, 21, has made 23 first-team appearances for West Brom since breaking into their first-team after rising through the tanks of their academy.

He was sent on loan to Charlton last summer with the hope that he would be able to continue his development there and return to The Hawthorns a better player than the one that left.

Although Leko performed well at The Valley by scoring five goals and supplying four assists in 21 appearances, his loan spell was cut short by a serious injury.

It has been widely reported that Slaven Bilic’s transfer budget is around £25million this summer but that budget can be raised by selling players.

Leko’s £1million exit is not going to seem like a lot but that £1million can be put to good use by Luke Dowling, who showed last summer that he has an eye for finding bargain deals that can help strengthen Albion’s first-team.

It is a shame that Leko seems to be on his way out of The Hawthorns and whether he ends up in Yorkshire or stays in the West Midlands, we wish him all the best.
