West Brom only willing to pay 50% of asking price for PL forward – reports
West Brom and Sheffield United are plotting a possible swap deal for Oliver Burke and Callum Robinson this summer.
The Sun journalist Alan Nixon claims the deal between the two Premier League clubs is “up in the air”, and could be straight or include cash.
If it involved cash, it would go down as two separate transfers between both – although a straight swap would certainly suit the Baggies.
The Express and Star have claimed that West Brom are only willing to pay £4million for the Republic of Ireland international.
According to the reliable source, that put the deal in danger of falling through recently, but this potential swap has breathed life into negotiations.
Sheffield United are said to want to recoup the £8million they paid Preston for Robinson, meaning the Albion are only willing to pay 50% of that.
Robinson is keen to return, and the Baggies are happy to let Burke leave – making this a perfect deal for Slaven Bilic.
Either way, this would be a masterclass.
Burke joined from RB Leipzig for £15million, and has only completed two league matches for the Baggies – there couldn’t be a bigger sign he isn’t wanted.
The Scot leaving would open the door to Robinson to join, something which is a no-brainer after he played a key role in earning promotion to the Premier League.
The 25-year-old is said to be keen on returning to the Hawthorns, and Burke has given the Baggies the perfect chance to make that happen.
Given they were only ready to pay 50% of the Blades’ valuation, this deal would most likely have collapsed if the swap wasn’t mooted.
