West Brom agree fee to re-sign player permanently – report

West Brom have agreed to pay around £9million to sign Filip Krovinovic on a permanent basis from Benfica, according to A Bola.

The Portuguese news outlet reports that the Baggies will either re-sign the 24-year-old outright from Benfica this summer, or negotiate a loan-to-buy deal where a permanent switch will happen at the end of next season.

It is understood that while negotiations continue between West Brom and their Portuguese counterparts, Krovinovic will discuss his future with Benfica’s bosses before undergoing the usual pre-season fitness tests and training until a deal with Albion is totally agreed.

West Brom manager Slaven Bilic recently told Croatian news outlet Index HR that he “will do everything” he can to re-sign Krovinovic this summer.

Speaking in April, as quoted by the Express & Star, Bilic hailed his fellow Croatian as an “important player” in his side and confirmed he would negotiate a deal with Benfica to bring him back to The Hawthorns.

And it seems that negotiations are progressing at a steady pace ahead of the new Premier League season kicking off in just over two weeks’ time.

Albion have plenty of work to do this summer.

Matheus Pereira is the only player who’s been snapped up since the end of last season and it is hard to say he’s really a new signing because everyone knew a permanent deal for him was going to happen months ago.

Krovinovic would be a handy addition to ensure the squad isn’t as weak as it was last season in the Championship but the club needs to be pressing on with more signings – especially a striker.

In other West Brom news, Kaveh Solhekol has said how many new signings Bilic wants to make before the season kicks off next month.
