‘Priority’ – Club legend believes one signing will help West Brom fans relax

West Brom legend Ally Robertson believes the Albion signing one striker will help everyone at the Hawthorns relax going into the Premier League.

The former defender, who made over 600 appearances for the Baggies, claimed that the final third should be a priority this summer.

Charlie Austin and Hal Robson-Kanu both hit double figures last season, but there have been questions raised over their abilities in the top-flight.

Robertson admitted that signing a new striker will make things look much better at the Hawthorns over any other position.

“I think the priority has to be a goalscorer,” he told the Express and Star.

“The owner isn’t going to invest his own money so we’ve not got a lot to play with. So maybe it’s best we look to the loan market for a centre-forward.

“For me, it’s about fine-tuning the team this window. And I think we will all relax a little bit when we get that striker. That will make things a lot better.”

Robertson is spot on with his assessment.

Bilic has already spoken out on his frustrations with the club’s board, and the funds being made available to him in the market.

The Athletic reported on Wednesday that West Brom have retained their interest in Huddersfield forward Karlan Grant.

Grant is said to be interested in talks with the Baggies, after scoring 19 goals for the Terriers in the Championship last season.

Would Grant be a massive signing that everyone expects? Comparing it to Leeds and Rodrigo, maybe not – but within this budget, he could be a smart addition.
