Report shares Celtic stance on Kris Ajer as West Brom reportedly open talks

West Brom have identified their defence as a clear area they need to improve in before they kick off their Premier League campaign.

Brighton’s Shane Duffy was singled out as a target, with Celtic also interested in the Republic of Ireland international.

That could help the Baggies though, with the Athletic reporting that West Brom are interested in Hoops defender Kris Ajer.

Steve Madeley did insist in that report that the Scottish champions demanding an eight-figure fee could make a deal unlikely.

Glasgow Live has reported that Celtic could be demanding up to £20million for the Norweigian who has also attracted interest from Leicester and AC Milan.

According to that report, Neil Lennon is “reluctant” to let Ajer leave Parkhead and Slaven Bilic could be set for even more disappointment this summer.

With Bilic already having three options in defence, one of those could be about to leave the club.

Ahmed Hegazi is one of those who could leave the Hawthorns. The Egyptian international is back in training with the Baggies, but another arrival could see that change.

Madeley has previously reported that the experienced defender is the “most-obvious” player to leave the club this summer.

Al-Ittihad have confirmed their interest previously in the 30-year-old, although there has been no official move.

The Albion will be waiting for any arrivals before sanctioning any exits, and Ajer seems highly unlikely at this stage.
