Senior forward wants to quit West Brom, Albion keen to get him off wage bill – report
Kenneth Zohore wants to quit West Brom this summer so that he can move on and earn regular first-team football elsewhere, according to The Athletic.
The news outlet reports that Albion are open to sending the 26-year-old out on loan or selling him permanently. However, the club is resigned to taking a hit on a player they paid £8million for from Cardiff last year.
Zohore was West Brom’s most expensive signing in the Championship over the last two seasons but – as always seems to be the case with Albion’s expensive signings – the Dane simply failed to meet expectations.
He scored five goals in 20 appearances across all competitions for the Baggies last term but two of his three goals in the Championship were from the penalty spot, as far back as August.
It is understood – rather unsurprisingly – that West Brom are now open to offloading Zohore so they can get him off the wage bill land while the club and the player himself are keen to part company, striking a deal is not going to be easy.
It’s been a slow start to the summer transfer window for not only the Baggies, but most clubs in England’s top two tiers.
Zohore has played in Italy, Denmark and Sweden in his career so he’s clearly not afraid to move to different countries and it could be that the ex-Cardiff striker is moved on abroad before the end of the transfer window.
After such a poor season in the Championship, we doubt that many second-tier clubs will be queuing up to sign him and clearly, he’s not going to be attracting attention from the Premier League.
