Jonathan Leko sends West Brom message after sealing exit to Birmingham
Jonathan Leko has delivered a message to everyone at West Brom after sealing his exit to Birmingham City on Friday.
The Baggies need to sell players in order to boost their transfer budget, and Leko was one of those who didn’t make the cut at the Hawthorns.
After failed loan spells at both Bristol City and Charlton, promotion to the Premier League made it unlikely that the winger would get a shot with the Baggies.
Leko was thankful to everyone at the Baggies after spending 10 years of his career at the club, something he called a “pleasure”.
“To everyone at West Brom, I would like to say a massive thank you for the past 10 years,” he wrote on his personal Instagram account.
“It has been a pleasure to play for This club and it’s something I will look back on as a great achievement.
“I’d like to say a massive thank you to every single coach and every single player and staff that has helped along my journey at West Brom.”
Looking at Leko during his spell at Charlton, despite showing glimpses of promise, it was clear the Premier League may have been one step too far.
Slaven Bilic has snapped up the chance to pick up an extra £1million for his budget, and there won’t be massive complaints.
The 21-year-old did score five goals in his 21 appearances, but he didn’t get anywhere close to the same level of performance compared to Grady Diangana and Callum Robinson.
It’s been a great 10 years, but the time has come for Leko and Baggies to part ways.
