‘Cracking’, ‘That’s what we need’ – Many WBA fans react to interest in ‘diamond’ PL talent
West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight at the club’s interest in Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
According to Express & Star journalist Joseph Masi, a potential Baggies swoop for the 20-year-old is “one to keep you eyes” on this summer.
The youngster spent last season on loan in the Championship with Charlton Athletic and Swansea City, and Masi suggests that he is “destined” for a step up to the top flight in the coming weeks.
Judging by the influx of reactions online, the prospect of Albion taking him on a temporary deal would be a popular one.
Many fans have heaped praise on the box-to-box talent, labelling him as everything from a “diamond” to a “right little star”.
And the stats certainly suggest that he could do a decent job for the Baggies next term.
Last season, he averaged a dribble success rate that was 7.1% higher than Filip Krovinovic’s, as well as a shot accuracy rate that was superior by 9.4%, as per Wyscout.
A temporary deal would surely suit all parties too.
Much has been made of Albion’s limited financial capabilities this summer, with suggestions that Slaven Bilic has a war chest of somewhere between £20-30 million to boost his squad this summer.
A good quality loan signing would allow him to improve his resources without having to worry about cost, while regular Premier League minutes would be a major draw for both Gallagher and his parent club Chelsea.
This one does feel likes a no-brainer, and if we can get it over the line, the Baggies must go all out to land the starlet.
