‘We will sit at the table’ – Club chief slaps eight-figure valuation on reported WBA talent
Fenerbahce president Ali Koc has insisted that his side will not sell reported West Brom target Vedat Muriqi for less than £18 million this summer.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a potential move to The Hawthorns for some time now, but the Turkish chief has made it very clear that he plans to maintain a strong stance when it comes to his valuation of the hitman.
Koc also claims that his side will be favourites to win the Turkish title next term with the Kosovo international leading the line.
Speaking to Sozcu and Skor, he said: “We want £18 million in advance.
“If someone makes an offer for Muriqi, we will sit at the table. If we keep Muriqi, we will be the favourite to win the championship.
“We could sell him for a higher price next year [if we win the league].”
This probably isn’t the best news for West Brom, truth be told.
The Baggies are understood to have a war chest of around £20-30 million to spend this summer, and it’s hard to see them spending such a substantial chunk of that kitty on a single player.
Other striking targets have reportedly emerged for Albion in recent days too, with Watford’s Troy Deeney looking like a genuine option for Slaven Bilic’s men.
Given that that deal would likely be a loan, it would be a cheaper alternative that would give the Baggies a proven Premier League marksmen up top.
In conjunction with Koc’s high valuation, it seems unlikely that Albion will be making a move this summer.
