West Brom closing in on £900k deal for centre-back – report

West Brom are finally closing in on the signing of Wigan defender Cedric Kipre.

Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett did recently report that the Baggies had sealed a broad agreement for the defender, although there has been a delay.

Alan Nixon of The Sun claimed that was just due to discussions over personal terms, a natural thing at this time of the window.

The Daily Mail has reported on Sunday that the Baggies will seal a move for the 23-year-old for a fee of £900,000 from the cash-strapped Latics.

It is detailed that the colossal defender has snubbed a move to Blackburn Rovers to complete a switch to the Albion.

The opportunity to play in the Premier League was described as too good to turn down for Kipre, who would have been playing in League One without a move this summer.

Slaven Bilic has wanted a new defender alongside Semi Ajayi, Kyle Bartley and Ahmed Hegazi, and he appears to have found his man.

Kipre has become available for a bargain price after Wigan were sent down to League One because of their administration.

Nobody wants to see another club struggle in this way, but West Brom will be rubbing their hands together at this price – especially with their small budget.

The same report claims that the Baggies could still go in for Shane Duffy, but that would most likely be a loan move for the Seagulls enforcer.

If Duffy did arrive along with Kipre, one would have to leave and Hegazi has been the labelled the “most-obvious” player to exit – certainly one to watch.
