Championship side value player at £7m amid reported West Brom interested – Sky Sports
West Brom have been interested in Brentford defender Rico Henry ever since the Bees missed out on promotion.
West Brom News exclusively brought you news recently that the Championship side had opened talks with Henry over a new contract.
They were hoping to persuade the 23-year-old to stay in London rather than moving elsewhere to the likes of the Baggies.
Sky Sports broke the news on Wednesday that Brighton had joined the Albion and a number of other Premier League sides in the race for Henry.
More importantly, they reported that Brentford only value the 23-year-old at £7million and that could be classed as a bargain.
Henry was a vital part of Thomas Frank’s side that went all the way to the Championship play-off finals last season.
The left-back still has another three years on his contract, and if he was to reject this new offer of a contract, he would surely become further available.
Slaven Bilic currently has Kieran Gibbs and Conor Townsend to choose from, although that may soon change.
The Baggies are willing to let Gibbs leave the Hawthorns over the summer, due to his poor injury record and expensive wage hike.
Gibbs saw his wages double to £55,000-a-week after sealing promotion to the Premier League, and that is just unattainable.
Henry would arrive much younger and on less significant wages and for only £7million, in other words, he ticks every single box.
