West Brom fans have taken to to Twitter to hail the decision to hand young forward Callum Morton a new deal at the club.

According to The Athletic journalist Steve Madeley, the Baggies have handed the youngster a four-year contract and will now send him out on loan with Lincoln City for the season.

Morton hit eight goals in 12 outings for the club, including a strike in the League Two play-off final.

He was also handed man of the match in that game.

The point is that he is a hugely precocious talent, and one who appears to have his head screwed on right as well.

Morton has already addressed the fact that he may need to go out on loan for the foreseeable to gain the necessary experience needed to challenge for a first team spot.

There’s no sense of self-entitlement whatsoever, and he clealry knows that he will have to graft to earn his chance with the senior setup at The Hawthorns.

That pragmatism and willingness to work could see him go far in the professional game.

The good thing is that with this new deal under his belt, Morton should have plenty of time and opportunity to use those natural instincts to hone himself into a top class player.

This is a really positive move from Albion.
