Deal close: West Brom will finalise deal to sign forward within days – report

West Brom are close to signing forward Callum Robinson on a permanent basis from Sheffield United, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper reports that Oliver Burke will be heading to Bramall Lane in a swap deal with Blades manager Chris Wilder confident that he can revive the Scot’s career after a disappointing three years on the books at The Hawthorns.

West Brom signed Burke for £15million in 2017 and since then, the former Nottingham Forest attacker has played just 23 times for the Baggies and endured mixed loan spells at Celtic and Alaves.

The Telegraph adds that West Brom and Sheffield United will sign off on the swap deal once Robinson and Burke return from their respective international duties with the Republic of Ireland and Scotland.

Robinson earned his 12th cap for Ireland on Thursday night when he came off the bench for the final 16 minutes of a 1-1 draw with Bulgaria.

Ireland play against Finland on Sunday and after that, Robinson will return to England to finalise his permanent move to The Hawthorns.

Burke made a substitute appearance for Scotland on Friday in their 1-1 draw with Israel.

Scotland, managed by ex-Baggies boss Steve Clarke, play the Czech Republic on Monday night after UEFA ordered the game to go ahead despite the Czech FA announcing it was off due to a COVID-19 outbreak in their squad.

West Brom have really pressed on with their transfer activity in the last couple of days by announcing the arrivals of Cedric Kipre and Grady Diangana on Friday before David Button’s arrival was made official on Saturday.

Robinson’s return, after a strong loan spell at The Hawthorns last season, will surely be welcomed and he should be a great addition to Slaven Bilic’s Premier League squad.
