‘Might put Sheffield off’ – Many WBA fans react to international display of Oli Burke
Oliver Burke is slowly coming to the end of his West Brom career.
The young winger cost a hefty fee from RB Leipzig years ago but has never quite made an impression at the Hawthorns.
Burke didn’t even feature in the Championship for the Baggies and was instead fished out on loan in the previous two seasons – not that it affected the Albion.
Thankfully, the winger who replaced him last season, Callum Robinson, made a massive impact and was a major reason behind promotion to the Premier League.
It was reported by the Sun journalist Alan Nixon earlier in the window that West Brom could swap Burke with Sheffield United for Robinson, and Baggies fans went wild.
That would be superb business, with Burke only ever making 24 competitive appearances at the Hawthorns and scoring two goals.
Robinson managed to equal that total in only his first five games on loan, scoring against Bristol City and Nottingham Forest.
Burke featured for Scotland on Friday evening against Israel, coming off the bench in the 1-1 draw at Hampden Park.
In his 16 minute cameo for his country, the 23-year-old didn’t manage any attacking output, and instead only committed two fouls. [WhoScored]
Many Baggies fans reacted to his performance for Scotland, with the majority hoping that Chris Wilder wasn’t watching, as it could potentially affect any future swap deal between the clubs.
