Revealed: West Brom pre-season friendly not taking place amid online rumours

West Brom are not playing a pre-season friendly match against Yeovil Town on Tuesday night despite recent online rumours, West Brom News can reveal.

The Express & Star reported on their website on Saturday that the Baggies will play host to the National League club at The Hawthorns just days before the Premier League season kicks off.

Speculation also circled on social media about the potential friendly after Google listed Albion to play Yeovil on Tuesday at 7pm.

However, West Brom News has had it confirmed by Yeovil that this match is not happening with the Baggies already playing their final pre-season friendly on Saturday when they drew 0-0 with Brighton at the AMEX.

Albion kick-off life back in the Premier League on Sunday, September 13 when they welcome Leicester City to The Hawthorns.

Since the end of last season, Slaven Bilic has strengthened his squad with the permanent additions of Matheus Pereira and Grady Diangana while also adding defender Cedric Kipre and goalkeeper David Button on full-time deals.

Speculation is still rife about Filip Krovinovic returning to the Black Country after a successful loan spell from Benfica last season while the Baggies are still in the hunt to sign a new centre-forward.

Karlan Grant and Michy Batshuayi have been linked with moves to the Baggies while The Athletic journalist Steve Madeley has reported that discussions to sign Troy Deeney have cooled.

In other West Brom news, Kevin Phillips is excited by the prospect of seeing this striker joining Grady Diangana and Matheus Pereira at The Hawthorns.
