Sky Sports details West Brom talks over imminent player-plus-cash transfer
West Brom and Sheffield United have discussed whether one club should owe the other a transfer fee in the Oliver Burke and Callum Robinson swap deal, according to Sky Sports.
The broadcaster claims that the Blades are closing in on the signing of 23-year-old Burke, who joined the Baggies three years ago for £15million.
Burke has since failed to meet expectations at The Hawthorns and Albion are willing to get rid of him to help secure Robinson, 25, on a permanent basis after an impressive short-term loan spell in the Black Country last season.
However, it seems that West Brom and their Premier League rivals are locked in talks over which side owes the other a fee in order to “level up the deal”.
Based on what we’ve seen of Burke in the last few years, it should be Albion who are paying the fee because Robinson did way more in just a few months at The Hawthorns than the Scotland international has done since his big-money arrival from RB Leipzig.
Burke has just one goal in 24 appearances across all competitions for the Baggies and that came in 2018 against Luton Town in the Carabao Cup.
He’s since disappointed while on loan at Celtic and did little of note on a season-long loan at Alaves in Spain last season.
Robinson, on the other hand, scored three goals and supplied two assists in his 16 appearances for Albion.
While we don’t see Robinson as a starter for Slaven Bilic in the Premier League with Grady Diangana’s return being secured earlier this week, the former Preston winger is a way better option for Bilic to have in his squad than Burke.
In other West Brom news, Filip Krovinovic and Matheus Pereira have reacted on Instagram to Diangana’s permanent move to the Baggies.
