‘Cracking’, ‘Brilliant’ – These West Brom fans react to official club update
West Brom fans learned who their team will meet in the second, and potentially third round of the Carabao Cup on Sunday.
The draws for both round two and three were held on Sunday afternoon, with the Baggies in the northern section of the draw for round two.
In round two West Brom will host EFL newcomers Harrogate Town, with the winner of that tie hosting either Southampton or Brentford.
West Brom have already improved on last year’s outing in the League Cup. Last season the Baggies were knocked out in round one by Millwall – this season the Baggies enter the competition in round two.
A home tie against Carabao Cup newcomers and League Two opposition presents West Brom with the opportunity to get into round three with relative ease.
Opponents Harrogate Town are currently embarking on their first season in the EFL in the club’s 106-year history, after being promoted via the National League playoffs last season.
Harrogate beat Tranmere Rovers on penalties in round one, which was their first-ever game in the competition. The game finished 1-1 before the shootout, with midfielder Lloyd Kerry scoring for Harrogate.
There is no doubt that the North Yorkshire club will want to cause an upset against a Premier League outfit, but this is a tie that Baggies fans should expect their team to win.
Should West Brom beat Harrogate, they will face a harder tie in round three, against Championship Brentford, or Premier League Southampton.
