West Brom deliver emotional message as Chris Brunt seals Bristol City switch
West Brom have delivered an emotional message to Bristol City after they completed the signing of Chris Brunt on Monday evening.
The Baggies left the club at the end of last season, sealing his final campaign at the Hawthorns with yet another promotion to the Premier League.
He finished with three Championship promotions in total and made over 250 appearances for West Brom before becoming a free agent.
Bristol City snapped Brunt up on a free transfer, and it led to many Baggies fans claiming it just didn’t look right seeing one of the icons in a different kit.
West Brom also replied, asking their old Championship rivals to look after “one of the very best” they’ve seen at the club.
“Look after him, Bristol Cty,” they wrote. “He’s one of the very best.”
Brunt believes he will bring great experience to Ashton Gate among a squad that he admitted was young but hungry.
The 35-year-old did send a message back to the Baggies, claiming it was the biggest wrench to leave a club so close to his heart despite him knowing his fate early.
His 421 appearances for the Baggies are some of the many reasons why he is idolised in the West Midlands, being involved in 138 goals during that time.
As well as this, Brunt stuck around through relegations and struggles, making sure that he helped the side that gave him so much in his career return.
The reactions from fans were full of good luck messages, and also crying responses as this move made them fully come to the terms with his exit once again.
We obviously wish Brunty the best of luck, but even we admit that this still doesn’t look or feel right.
