Bilic claims West Brom are ‘working hard’ on new signings, openly mentions one player
Slaven Bilic has openly suggested that West Brom are trying to secure a deal for Filip Krovinovic.
The Baggies have been active in the transfer window in recent weeks, and have secured permanent agreements for last season’s Championship loanees Grady Diangana, Matheus Pereira, and Callum Robinson.
But Bilic has made it clear that he he is not finished in the transfer market yet, and is eager to bring Krovinovic back to The Hawthorns as well following his own spell with the club last term.
Speaking to Albion’s official website, he said: “We are trying to be active. We’re working hard.
“The priority was to try to keep the guys from last season not out of a debt but because they did a good job and we all felt they could step up.
“So we wanted to try to keep together the team from last season and then add three or four players not to improve the quantity but the quality.
“We have done everything but Filip so far. And of course we will try and get a few more players.”
This is good to hear.
Speculation about Krovinovic’s future has been rife for some time now, but to have the manager himself acknowledge an interest in the player is a really promising thing.
It would appear that the player is keen on making the move from Benfica to the midlands too.
According to The Athletic journalist Steve Madeley, a number of European clubs are keeping tabs on the midfielder, although he also states that playing in England remains his preference.
That can only be a good sign, and the hope will be that a deal can be wrapped up sooner rather than later.
In other West Brom news, Darren Moore has won the race to sign this Baggies forward.
