‘They are a threat’ – BBC pundit predicts score in West Brom v Leicester clash
Mark Lawrenson has tipped West Brom to struggle in their first game back in the Premier League, when they play Leicester on Sunday.
Lawrenson was speaking for the first Premier League Predictions of the season on the BBC, when he said he thinks Leicester will beat the Baggies 2-0 at the Hawthorns.
The former Liverpool defender believes that West Brom will have it ‘tough’ this season and that he is concerned over the Baggies’ defence.
He said, “It feels like West Brom have got a tough season ahead of them. Defensively I am not convinced by them at all.
“Leicester have lost Ben Chilwell to Chelsea but as long as Jamie Vardy is in the side they are a threat. They will be too strong for the Baggies.”
While West Brom managed to avoid an opening game clash against one of the traditional top six sides, Leicester will still prove a tough test for Slaven Bilic and his squad.
Brendan Rodgers guided Leicester to a fifth-placed finish last season. Despite having spent the majority of the season in the top four, the Foxes lost out on their chance of Champions League football after losing to Manchester United on the final day of the season.
Leicester will want to challenge for European football once again and will want to get their season off to a winning start when they visit the Hawthorns.
The last time these two teams met was March 2018, with the Foxes winning 4-1 at the Hawthorns. Salomon Rondon scored the Baggies only goal.
Baggies fans will be hoping there isn’t a repeat result on Sunday, but without a new striker at the club, West Brom will be looking to new permanent signings Grady Diangana, Matheus Pereira and Callum Robinson to provide the goals.
