Report – West Brom plot raid for PL top six talent, eight-figure price tag emerges
West Brom are among a host of clubs interested in signing Rhian Brewster from Liverpool this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
The Baggies are currently in the hunt for a new striker as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of their return to the Premier League.
They will go into today’s season opener against Leicester City without those reinforcements in place, but it is understood that the prodigious Anfield talent has been identified as a player who could fit the bill for Slaven Bilic’s men.
The 20-year-old is understood to be attracting attention from a host of clubs, with up to 10 sides pursuing his signature this summer.
Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are said to be among those interested alongside the Baggies.
A loan move is a likely option for the youngster, although there is still the prospect of him leaving the champions on a permanent basis before the transfer window closes.
Any such deal would require a fee of around £20 million, plus a number of clauses and add-ons.
This would be a fantastic signing for Albion if they could fend off the considerable competition for Brewster’s services.
At £20 million, a permanent deal is almost certainly off the cards, but a loan spell could be just as beneficial for Bilic’s men.
They need goals this season, and ideally they need to find them for as cheap as possible.
With that in mind, a temporary stint could provide them with some short term firepower without breaking the bank.
Brewster looks like the real deal too.
The youngster hit 10 goals in 20 league outings last season during his loan spell with Swansea City in the Championship, and with his future still undecided, there’s still everything to play for.
