Sun journo: Potential West Brom exit ‘long way off’, ‘mental’ reason cited
Sheffield Wednesday are a long way off meeting the valuation that West Brom have put on striker Kenneth Zohore, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.
The 26-year-old has slipped significantly down the pecking order at The Hawthorns since signing last summer, and an exit in the coming weeks looks like an increasing likelihood.
The Daily Mail reported over the weekend that the forward was expected to hold talks with the Owls on Monday over a potential switch.
But Nixon has questioned how close a deal is to actually being done.
Responding to an Albion supporter who asked about the transfer on Twitter, the journalist wrote: “Long way off it.
“Wage gaps between divisions these days are mental.
“Makes transfers very hard to do at every level.”
This is a fairly frustrating update from Nixon.
No offence to Zohore, but things haven’t worked out for him with the Baggies, and the sooner he is offloaded, the better.
Much has been made of the limited funds that Slaven Bilic has had at his disposal this summer, and you would imagine that any extra space on the wage bill that could be freed up would be incredibly welcome.
In that sense, shipping Zohore out – even on a temporary deal – could be the extra little boost that Albion need to get another signing over the line.
Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster has been touted as a possible loan target, for instance, and given a straight choice between the two, we know who we would rather have at The Hawthorns this season.
In other West Brom news, Richard Keys has tipped Bilic to leave The Hawthorns before Christmas.
