West Brom are hot on the heels of Huddersfield Town forward Karlan Grant, as they look to strengthen in the final third.
Steve Madeley of the Athletic has reported that the Baggies may need to get creative with instalments, with the Terriers wanting around £16million.
The 3-0 defeat against Leicester on the opening day highlighted West Brom’s problems, with Callum Robinson struggling to lead the line.
Slaven Bilic knows he needs another forward, with Charlie Austin and Hal Robson-Kanu both being benched despite being the club’s only out-and-out strikers.
Despite the Baggies struggling to come to an agreement with Huddersfield, that hasn’t stopped them from trying.
Birmingham Live have reported that the Albion remain hopeful of striking a deal with the Yorkshire club over Grant, and they may have an advantage in negotiations.
It is reported that Premier League clubs have an extended deadline to sign players from EFL sides until the 15th October – 10 days later than the general deadline on the fifth.
The Baggies have reportedly made Grant their number one target in the final third, with only one month left to seal any move.
The Daily Mail has claimed that the 22-year-old is “desperate” to make the switch to the Hawthorns, with the fee the only obstacle left to clear.
Grant was on fire for a struggling Huddersfield side last season, finding the back of the net 19 times in the Championship.
Bilic is screaming out for pace up top, with Robson-Kanu and Austin not able to give that this season, but time is running out.
