‘Wow’, ‘MOTM’ – Many West Brom fans blown away by ‘Under-rated’ player in 3-0 win v Harrogate
West Brom fans were blown away by Kyle Edwards’ performance on Wednesday night as he starred in a 3-0 win against Harrogate Town in the Carabao Cup.
Slaven Bilic’s side progressed to the third round of the competition with a comfortable victory at The Hawthorns that was made easier by a stand-out display by 22-yeard-old winger Edwards.
Although Rekeem Harper and Hal Robson-Kanu scored stunning goals from distance in the first half, most fans were talking about Edwards’ assist for Callum Robinson’s goal late on in the match.
Edwards used a superb bit of skill to beat a Harrogate defender in the corner before charging into the box and picking out Robinson amid a crowd of opposing players.
Stats by Sky Sports show that the Baggies academy product created more chances [3] than any other player in the pitch and made more passes in the opposition half [31] than anyone else.
West Brom fans were understandably thrilled by his performance with one saying that he was “easily” the man of the match against Harrogate.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
Edwards was in and out of Bilic’s side in the Championship last season and it’s all well and good showing that you can perform in every other second-tier match or against League Two clubs like Harrogate.
It is going to be tough for Edwards to get much game-time in the Premier League this term but any opportunity he gets, he must take it otherwise he could run the risk of dropping back into the Under-23s.
