‘Another blow’ – Journalist shares major update on WBA pursuit of Filip Krovinovic
The chances of West Brom signing Benfica playmaker Filip Krovinovic in this window are slowly fading, according to Nick Mashiter.
The PA Media journalist reported on Twitter that Bologna have joined the race for the Croatian, in “another blow” for the Baggies.
Mashiter claimed that the deal is still not impossible, but the budget constraints at the Hawthorns continue to make negotiations tricky.
Portuguese outlet Record have recently claimed that Benfica are holding out for a figure close to £9million, something the Baggies don’t agree with.
It is claimed that the Albion are interested in a loan with an obligation to buy the Croatian for £5.4million, and that suggestion has been swiped away by the Portuguese side.
Benfica crashed out of the Champions League recently and will need to sell players in order to balance their books after spending over £70million.
Krovinovic is training away from his teammates and is clearly on the chopping block, but with all of these different clubs interested, an auction could be started – not good news for the Baggies.
Slaven Bilic will not be happy with this news and would be left raging if the Baggies were to miss out on their former loanee.
The Albion boss has frequently admitted that Krovinovic was his number one target at the Hawthorns, and that hasn’t materialised as of yet.
Bilic spoke about his transfer targets in his recent press conference on Thursday and claimed he would be “very disappointed” if he was to miss out on the 25-year-old.
This latest update is not one that people around the Hawthorns wanted to hear, with the chances of signing Krovinovic appearing to shrink daily.
