Reliable journalist: WBA will entertain offers for player with 34 apps in 19/20 season
West Brom may need to sell players in order to boost their transfer budget with three weeks left in the window.
The Baggies broke their transfer record to sign Grady Diangana this summer, but that deal has left them with a limited budget.
Slaven Bilic admitted that he would like two new faces through the door this month, but claimed it could be difficult.
The Athletic journalist Steve Madeley has shared that the Baggies will listen to offers for Kenneth Zohore, and interestingly, Charlie Austin.
There were suggestions that Austin could be used as part of a deal to sign Huddersfield forward Karlan Grant, but those claims were rubbished.
Grant has been made available by the Terriers, but only should clubs meet their £15million valuation – something which has become a hurdle.
The young striker wants a move to the Hawthorns, and it appears that Austin may need to be sacrificed for that to happen.
Austin appears to be third in the pecking order right now at the Hawthorns if the past week is anything to go by.
The 31-year-old didn’t feature in the Premier League opener against Leicester and only started against Harrogate as Bilic played two up-front with Hal Robson-Kanu also starting.
Callum Robinson has been given the nod in the Premier League, with Matheus Pereira and Diangana either side of the Irish international.
Austin made 34 appearances in the Championship last season, scoring 10 vital goals in the promotion charge – his most since the 2014/15 campaign.
It wouldn’t be easy to watch Austin leave, but if his departure leads to Grant arriving at the Hawthorns, we’re all for it.
