Sky Sports: West Brom duo missing in PL opener could feature v Everton
West Brom will be looking to bounce back from the disappointing opening day defeat to Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.
The Baggies were easily swept aside 3-0 at the Hawthorns, thanks to goals from Jamie Vardy and Timothy Castagne.
Next up is a trip to Everton at Goodison Park, and the chance to post their first three points of the new Premier League season.
Slaven Bilic will want his side to use the momentum from the 3-0 win against Harrogate on Wednesday, but the squad will be looking different.
Sky Sports have reported that Conor Townsend and Matt Phillips could both feature in the squad for the first league game this season.
Both players featured against Harrogate, with Townsend surprisingly starting the game after his ankle problem and Phillips coming off the bench.
There is no such luck for Ahmed Hegazi and Kenneth Zohore though, who are both expected to miss out in Merseyside.
Townsend will have more chance of featuring in the game after he completed the full game against Harrogate on Wednesday, coming through unscathed.
Phillips, on the other hand, only managed to come on in the 55th minute off the bench and looked lively down the right-hand side.
Both will most likely have to settle for a place on the bench at Goodison Park, with Kieran Gibbs and Matheus Pereira both guaranteed to start.
Bilic went with a new formation against Leicester, and that will affect Phillips the most as the new front three consisted of Grady Diangana, Pereira and Callum Robinson – three players all preferred in the final third.
We don’t expect many changes to the starting XI, but the return of Phillips and Townsend on the bench does strengthen the squad.
