Local outlet share major update on reported pursuit of WBA player missing v Everton

Speculation linking West Brom forward Kenneth Zohore with a move to Derby County is wide of the mark, according to Derbyshire Live.

The online outlet has reported on their website that the Championship side are set to step up their search for a striker this week, but the Baggies striker is not on their shortlist.

Zohore has yet to be involved this season and has not been in any matchday squad – even in the Carabao Cup victory against Harrogate last week.

The Northern Echo first shared that the Rams had revived their interest in the Danish forward last week.

Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday were also credited with an interest, and those two have been mentioned more regularly compared to Derby.

Zohore has been on the chopping block eversince promotion to the Premier League was sealed, with Hal Robson-Kanu, Callum Robinson and Charlie Austin ahead of him.

One big problem in trying to offload the striker is his massive wages at the Hawthorns, that were bumped after promotion to the top-tier.

Zohore couldn’t be the only striker to leave the Hawthorns this summer though, with the Athletic reporting that Austin also has potential to exit.

Slaven Bilic has confirmed that he wants another forward brought in before October’s deadline, with Karlan Grant and M’Baye Niang names being mentioned.

With the budget being tight after the club-record deal for Grady Diangana, the sales of Zohore and Austin could be vital to bringing in players.

We can tick Derby off the list though, with Zohore’s potential suitors getting shorter by the week.
