Player agrees to join West Brom, transfer announcement due after paperwork finalised – report
Filip Krovinovic has signed a season-long deal at West Brom to rejoin the Black Country club from Benfica, according to Steve Madeley.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Monday, the journalist reported that before a formal announcement is made, the “final bits of paperwork” will be completed to wrap up Krovinovic’s return to The Hawthorns.
Krovinovic, 25, made 43 appearances in all competitions for West Brom last season as they won promotion to the Premier League.
The Croatian playmaker scored three goals during his loan spell in the Black Country and also supplied four assists.
Slaven Bilic has made it clear for months that he wants to re-sign Krovinovic from Benfica but it seems that a deal has taken this long due to Albion’s restricted transfer budget and the Portuguese club’s reluctance to let him leave on the cheap.
We’re glad to see Krovinovic back at The Hawthorns after so much effort and time was put into re-signing him but we are disappointed that the deal is only another straight loan.
If Krovinovic impresses in the Premier League, there will be a lot of clubs trying to sign him from Estadio da Luz next summer and West Brom’s inability to spend big is likely to scupper their chances of signing him.
However a good relationship with Bilic and the players at The Hawthorns means that Krovinovic might be very keen himself on a permanent stay at the Baggies.
We’ll have to wait and see but with Bilic playing a 3-4-3 formation and Conor Gallagher’s arrival at West Brom, it remains to be seen how much football Krovinovic will even get.
