West Brom loanee ruled out for months with injury blow – Steve Madeley
West Brom forward Callum Morton has been ruled out for a couple of months after picking up a shoulder injury, according to Steve Madeley.
Currently, on loan at Lincoln in League One, Morton has started the season well – scoring once in the EFL Cup win over Bradford.
Madeley confirmed the setback on his personal Twitter account on Monday afternoon, with the 20-year-old picking up the injury in the gym.
Madeley described it as an “untimely setback”, but there was no indication that he has returned to the Baggies for his rehabilitation.
Morton should be staying with Lincoln, with the season only just beginning and there still being months of action remaining.
The 20-year-old has completed 29 minutes in the league and has only started league games under Michael Appleton.
The striker wasn’t included in the big tie against Liverpool, or in the weekend’s victory with Crewe in the league.
Appleton commented on the setback before the two-month timescale was confirmed on Monday after the shoulder problem was analysed.
The Lincoln boss admitted he was “fearing the worst” after Morton was sent for scans over the weekend after sharing why the forward was missing.
With Appleton saying that he was fearing the worst, an initial two months out of action isn’t as bad as it could have been – with there being a big chance he could return in six weeks.
Baggies fans will have been wanting Morton to push on again this season, and with Lincoln flying, it was a great chance to do just that, but he will have to wait.
