West Brom would like to further strengthen in this area but time limited – Steve Madeley
West Brom finally completed the loan signing of Benfica playmaker Filip Krovinovic on Tuesday.
The Croatian was unveiled after weeks of negotiations, with Slaven Bilic finally getting his top priority back at the Hawthorns.
Bilic has plenty of options in midfield now, with Krovinovic joining Conor Gallagher through the front doors in the past fortnight.
So, where else could West Brom want to strengthen in this final week?
There is an obvious gap in the final third, with the Baggies wanting a striker who is direct and full of pace – there number one target? Huddersfield’s Karlan Grant.
In somewhat of a surprise though, the Athletic’s Steve Madeley has claimed that the Baggies want more options in their defence.
Madeley has claimed that with limited time and funds available to the Albion, that could prove very unlikely in this window.
Where is the problem area?
With Branislav Ivanovic and Cedric Kipre both arriving at the Hawthorns, it appears that the heart of the defence is sorted.
Both wing-back positions could prove to be massive problem areas moving forward though.
Dara O’Shea has moved into the middle, meaning Darnell Furlong and Lee Peltier are the only options on the right-hand side.
The left-hand side is an even bigger problem, with Kieran Gibbs proving unreliable, and Conor Townsend potentially not up to Premier League standard.
We don’t expect much movement in this area, but it would most likely be a new full-back if they do identify a target that they could sign within the next week.
