‘Raring to go’ – Journalist claims WBA player will be ‘tempting’ option to start v Saints

West Brom midfielder Conor Gallagher will once again be available for the Baggies against Southampton on Sunday.

The Chelsea loanee missed out against his parent club at the Hawthorns, as the two sides drew 3-3 in a breathless game.

Gallagher made his debut against Brentford in the Carabao Cup but has yet to feature in the Premier League under Slaven Bilic.

Birmingham Live journalist Joseph Chapman has claimed that Gallagher will give the Baggie something they’re “crying out for.”

“The midfielder impressed against Brentford in the cup,” he wrote.

“He’s raring to go and can bring qualities on and off the ball to the starting line-up that Albion are crying out for right now. Gallagher, who is energetic and relentless, is effective in the press and is intelligent with the ball at his feet.

“Southampton will likely go with holder Oriol Romeu and James Ward-Prowse in the supply role, so packing the midfield and winning that battle with Gallagher’s bite and stamina will be a tempting option to Bilic.”

Who would drop out?

With Jake Livermore and Romaine Sawyers both impressing against Chelsea, Bilic will be faced with the headache of who does Gallagher replace?

Another way this could happen is a change in system, but after the success against Chelsea, the Baggies may be reluctant to do that.

Filip Krovinovic has also rejoined on loan this week, meaning there are countless options in midfield this season.

Three points will soon become a necessity, and Bilic may need to sacrifice one of his defenders to do that – step forward Gallagher.
