E&S journo: This is how keen West Brom are on signing PL hitman, talks held

West Brom have a number of targets ahead of Leicester City striker Islam Slimani on their transfer shortlist, according to the Express and Star journalist Joseph Masi.

Albion are determined to bring in a new forward before the window shuts next week, and it would appear that they are seeking out a variety of options.

Among those is Slimani, with The Telegraph reporting that the Baggies have made an enquiry about the 32-year-old.

In a post to his personal Twitter account, Masi reasserted this update, but also suggested that the Algeria international was being regarded as something of a fallback option by Slaven Bilic’s men.

The reliable reporter wrote: “Albion have held talks with Leicester to check on the availability of Islam Slimani.

“But I understand there are a number of players ahead of him on the list of striker targets”.

This update will be a popular one with many West Brom supporters you would imagine.

As previously reported by West Brom News, not too many Baggies are overly keen on the prospect of bringing in a player who has failed to make much of an impression during his four years in England.

Instead, the general consensus seems to be that Karlan Grant is the man that Albion should be going all out to land, and to that end, it would appear that he is still the number one priority.

Of course, it’s good to see that West Brom have other irons in the fire, but you would imagine that Slimani would be a difficult sell to an anxious fanbase.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies have been offered the chance to sign this Ligue 1 striker on loan for £6million.
