‘Might see a hangover’ – Michael Owen predicts winner in West Brom clash v Saints

Michael Owen has backed Southampton to pick up all three points when they welcome West Brom to the south coast on Sunday.

The Premier League icon has predicted the Saints to win at St Mary’s, making it two victories in a row for Ralph Hassenhuttl.

Owen claimed that the Baggies were unbelievable in the first half against Chelsea, but admitted a club should never lose a three-goal lead.

Writing in his BetVictor prediction blog, Owen admitted that the Baggies may suffer a hangover from their game with Chelsea.

“Southampton got a much-needed win away at Burnley last Saturday night,” he wrote.

“It wasn’t a classic, but the Saints won’t care too much about that. West Brom were brought back down to earth after an unbelievable first-half performance against Chelsea to share the points.

“You should never lose a three-goal lead, and I think we might see a hangover in this one for the Baggies. I’m taking the Saints to march away with the points.”

After three games against European contenders to start the season, October is much-more friendly to the Baggies, who must start picking up wins soon.

Following the trip to Southampton are games against Burnley, Brighton and Fulham, something Slaven Bilic will have targeted for points.

Prediction expert Nate Silver has claimed that West Brom only stand a 20% chance of winning, and have a bigger chance of drawing the game rather than leaving the south coast with three points.
