Sun journo: West Brom struggling to offload first team duo before transfer deadline
West Brom are struggling to offload Charlie Austin and Kenneth Zohore, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.
The Baggies are understood to be in the hunt for a new hitman as they look to bolster their Premier League survival bid this season.
As such both Austin and Zohore have been deemed surplus to requirements at The Hawthorns.
Austin has been linked with a move to Derby County, while Zohore has emerged as a potential loan target for Sheffield Wednesday.
But neither player has sealed their exit yet, and Nixon has cast doubt over whether it will happen at all.
When asked whether Albion were struggling to get rid of the attacking duo on Twitter, the reporter replied: “Yes.
“Championship clubs don’t have a lot of money.
“But domestic window still has two weeks to run.”
It seems almost counterintuitive that West Brom could be struggling to sign a striker and offload two at the same time, but such is the way of the latter stages of the transfer market.
The Baggies need a quality striker desperately, and neither Austin or Zohore feel like the right man to provide them with the goals that would keep them afloat.
That being said, we’ve know for some time now that the financial situation at The Hawthorns is a tight one, and offloading one or both off the wage bill could be the missing piece needed to help us get a deal over the line for a Karlan Grant or an M’Baye Niang.
If we don’t, it could spell big trouble.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies have been offered the chance to sign this Ligue 1 striker on loan for £6million.
