Reliable journalist details why Conor Gallagher missed West Brom clash v Soton
West Brom fans were left baffled when Slaven Bilic left Conor Gallagher out of his squad to play against Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday.
Gallagher, 20, is one of just two new players who’ve been brought in at The Hawthorns since the end of last season but has not been seen since he made his debut against Brentford on September 22.
The midfielder was ineligible to play against parent club Chelsea last weekend and many expected him to at least make the bench at Southampton on Sunday.
However, that wasn’t the case as he was completely left out of the squad by Bilic.
According to Birmingham Mail journalist Joe Chapman, Bilic left Gallagher out due to him feeling as though the on-loan midfielder will benefit from a whole international break of getting ready to play for the Baggies in the Premier League.
It is understood Gallagher isn’t injured and should be in contention to start against Burnley on October 17.
West Brom signed Gallagher on a season-long loan from Chelsea on September 17.
It has been 17 days since his arrival and in that time you would have expected the midfielder to get up to speed with playing alongside his new team-mates and should be fully match-fit.
But, Bilic knows best and we cannot argue too much with that the Albion manager thinks because we haven’t seen what Gallagher has been like in training.
Hopefully, once the international break is over, the England Under-21 midfielder is able to make his Premier League debut for the Baggies.
