Athletic journalist shares West Brom chances of sealing double EFL deal
West Brom have taken a chance with their transfers this season, waiting for the second EFL deadline to bring in a striker.
Premier League and EFL clubs have until the 16th of October to complete deals between each other, and the Baggies have targeted a number of strikers.
The Albion have been linked with Huddersfield’s Karlan Grant for months, and fresh reports have suggested Bournemouth forward Josh King is a target.
What are the chances of West Brom signing both of those?
Steve Madeley has claimed that he can’t see that happening, with the funds limited at the Hawthorns after promotion.
The Athletic journalist reported on his personal Twitter account that the Baggies can’t afford two new players, and especially two new strikers.
We didn’t expect both to be arriving, but there was always a little bit of hope that the Baggies will bring in more than they did during this window.
How much would it cost?
It has been no secret that Huddersfield have rated Grant at around £16million, with West Brom struggling to reach that figure for a number of months.
The Express and Star reported on Wednesday that Bournemouth have slashed their asking price for King to £10million.
Given those two valuations, the Baggies would need to spend at least £26million to secure both, and that would be impossible.
We can always hope, but if the Albion had that sort of money to spend, they would have signed Grant weeks, if not months ago – time to accept the reality.
