Free agent striker linked with unexpected West Brom return – report

FourFourTwo have tipped West Brom to re-sign Daniel Sturridge with the former Baggies loanee currently a free agent.

Sturridge, 31, spent the second half of the 2017/18 season at The Hawthorns when Alan Pardew signed him on loan from Liverpool despite his infamous track record with injuries.

And, as expected, Sturridge struggled with injuries in the Black Country and played just six times for the Baggies in the Premier League as they suffered relegation to the Championship.

Last year, we named Sturridge in West Brom’s worst team of the last decade due to his arrival playing a major role in Albion’s relegation from the Premier League.

According to The Sun, the Baggies paid a £3.8million loan fee for Sturridge and covered the entirety of his £120,000-a-week wages for the duration of his loan.

It is quite likely that no player in West Brom’s long history has earned as much money at The Hawthorns than Sturridge.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea forward is now a free agent once more after leaving Trabzonspor in March when he terminated his contract at the Turkish club by mutual consent.

During his spell at Trabzonspor, Sturridge suffered yet more injury issues and started only seven league fixtures.

If West Brom do re-sign Sturridge, then we will simply give up.

He’s already failed once at The Hawthorns and since leaving he has not shown any improvement in terms of his fitness and ability to avoid time with the physios.

We hope that FourFourTwo’s claim about the Baggies and Sturridge is purely speculative as they describe Albion as “potential suitors” for the once-prolific forward.

In other West Brom news, Albion are in talks to sign this 28-year-old international striker.
