West Brom failed with ‘ultimate attempt’ to sign Champions League striker – report
West Brom are desperately trying to bring in another forward in this window.
The Baggies may have missed out on the European deadline to sign a striker, but they still have another nine days to sign one from the EFL.
Karlan Grant of Huddersfield remains their number one target, but a number of different names continue to be linked with a Hawthorns switch.
Interestingly, the Baggies may not have put all their hopes on signing Grant though, with a last-ditch effort on Monday being reported.
West Brom failed with an “ultimate attempt” to sign Club Brugge forward Emmanuel Dennis, according to HLN.
Reporting on their website, it is suggested that the Albion failed to sign the Nigerian as their offer failed to meet requirements needed to obtain a work permit for the 22-year-old.
Brighton were also interested, but they never made an offer meaning that Dennis has remained in Belgium, until January at least.
Dennis enjoyed a cracking campaign last season, scoring against Real Madrid in the Champions League at the Bernabeu.
The Nigerian also helped Club Brugge keep their spot in Europe’s top competition, with Dortmund, Lazio and Zenit in their group this season.
Only one month ago, CaughtOffside claimed that Dennis was valued at £36million, with the likes of Leeds, Arsenal and Everton also interested.
That makes a Baggies move highly unlikely unless the Belgian club significantly lowered their asking price during the COVID-19 pandemic.
