Journalist: West Brom table £6million loan offer with obligation-to-buy for Karlan Grant
West Brom and their long-standing pursuit of Huddersfield forward Karlan Grant appears to be going to the second transfer deadline.
The Daily Mail reported on Thursday that the Albion are closing in on a deal for the striker, and could agree a fee soon with the Championship club.
It is suggested that the Terriers would like around £16million, and the Baggies are said to be exploring a loan with an option to buy.
Local Express and Star journalist Joseph Masi has responded to those claims on the Baggies Broadcast and shared there is an offer on the table.
“The Karlan Grant situation as I understand it is that we’re very much in the stage of who is going to blink first – Albion or Huddersfield,” he said.
“It’s a difficult one because Albion need a striker and Huddersfield need the money. You’d imagine that the need for money is actually greater than the need for a striker.
“We’re waiting for this breakthrough. The money Albion have got on the table is not to be sniffed at, we think it’s a £5million/£6million loan fee, with the deal to buy at the end of the season.”
Huddersfield want the Baggies to meet their demands, but the Albion are wanting those to be lower, or in staggered payments.
The Baggies don’t have the cash to pay the asking price upfront, but what appears to be on the table is still an attractive offer.
With £6million reportedly on the table just for this season’s loan – the permanent deal at the end of the season could now only cost £10million.
Huddersfield need the money, clearly, and although a deal isn’t on the table right now, it definitely should be by next Friday’s deadline.
