‘Privileged’ – Ian Holloway ‘delighted’ with West Brom forward after Thursday deal

West Brom youngster Owen Windsor sealed a loan move to Grimsby Town on Thursday afternoon.

The under-23s forward will be with the Mariners until the end of the season, after spending the last campaign at his former club Cirencester.

Windsor was delighted to make the switch to Grimsby, claiming that he was happy to be involved in senior football once again.

Grimsby boss Ian Holloway admitted that it was a “privilege” to sign Windsor on loan, and that he is going to compliment his squad perfectly.

“He’s a bull of a number nine”, said Holloway.

“I have no doubt he will be able to bring his form from West Brom here, he can play as a number nine or number ten he’s that sort of player. He’s full of running, absolutely fresh as a daisy and he is going to complement what we already have here.

“What I am really pleased with, is that he has been training and playing all the way through this and I might have to force him into the team almost immediately because of that scenario.

“I am absolutely privileged and delighted to have him!”

Slaven Bilic and the Baggies have been smart with their loan business.

Each of the players sent out on loan are now playing under experienced managers such as Holloway, Darren Moore and Michael Appleton – two of those having been at the Hawthorns previously.

Windsor has hit the ground running with the under-23s, scoring five goals in as many games – including one strike against Swindon in the EFL Trophy.

That proves he can score in the football league, and Bilic will be hoping that he can go out and do the same for Grimsby this season.
