West Brom star likes ‘Lai out’ post on Instagram
Matheus Pereira has liked a post on Instagram which calls for West Brom owner Guochuan Lai to sell the club.
WBAFC Hub uploaded a post earlier this week that hits out at the Chinese businessman for failing to invest in the club since buying it from Jeremy Peace in 2016.
Pereira, 24, has since liked the post, as seen in the screenshot below. However, he has since unliked it, which WBAFC Hub showed in their Instagram story.
It’s unlikely that Pereira would have meant anything by this and we reckon that it was just a genuine mistake by the Brazilian attacker, otherwise he wouldn’t have gone back to unlike the post several hours later.
We also doubt that Pereira has even met or spoken to Lai, with the Chinese businessman barely having any involvement in what is going on at The Hawthorns.
Lai has decreased in popularity year by year at West Brom and he now has fans calling for him to sell the club after failng to boost Slaven Bilic’s transfer budget since winning promotion from the Championship.
It was widely reported that Albion had just £25million to spend after winning promotion. In comparison, Leeds spent almost £100million on new arrivals.
West Brom still need a new centre-forward adding to the squad while there are also other areas of the side which still need strengthening.
With the club struggling for funds, it’s unlikely they will be able to sign more than one new player unless they make the most out of loans and structured fees paid in instalments.
In other West Brom news, Albion are in talks to sign this 28-year-old international striker.
