‘Our best player’, ‘Fantastic’ – Many int’l fans blown away by West Brom player display

West Brom forward Callum Robinson has been hailed by Republic of Ireland fans for his performance in the defeat to Slovakia on Wednesday night.

Ireland crashed out of Euro 2021 qualifying as they drew 0-0 with Slovakia after normal and extra time but lost 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out as Alan Browne and Matt Doherty both missed from the spot.

Robinson, 25, was substituted off 10 minutes into extra time but Stephen Kenny perhaps regretted that decision because it seems the West Brom forward was one of the best players on the pitch for the Irish.

Stats by WhoScored show that Robinson had two shots at goal and completed two dribbles while also chipping in defensively by making two tackles.

The former Sheffield United player started on the right-wing for Ireland, which isn’t a position which Albion fans have seen him play in as Slaven Bilic has started the 25-year-old either on the left-wing or as a striker.

Still, Robinson managed to impress and showed off his versatility despite it being a disappointing night for Ireland supporters, even though they were happy with what they saw from the Baggies star.

Ireland’s squad of players is nowhere near as strong as it was a few years ago and it is a shame that they were knocked out of the Euro 20201 play-offs because we want to see as many West Brom players as possible at international tournaments.

In other West Brom news, an Albion star has liked a post calling for Guochuan Lai to leave the club.
