West Brom player forced into isolation, could miss clash v Burnley – report

West Brom are facing a nervous wait over the availability of Callum Robinson for the game against Burnley.

Birmingham Live have reported that the 25-year-old entered isolation on Thursday, and will be in quarantine for 14 days.

Robinson was stood down from international duty with Ireland on Sunday, after coming into contact with a COVID-19 carrier.

The Baggies forward will continue to take tests throughout his isolation period, in the hope he could be available for the Burnley game next Monday.

Should those tests be returned negative, there is every chance that he will be made available, despite only spending less than 14 days in quarantine.

West Brom are said to be awaiting those results this week, although it would surely be unlikely given that he wouldn’t have quarantined for two weeks.

Desperate times

We all know what those call for – desperate measures.

With Robinson most likely out of the game against Burnley, that leaves Charlie Austin as his most likely replacement for Slaven Bilic.

Hal Robson-Kanu is currently out injured after breaking his arm against Southampton, so Kenneth Zohore could take a spot on the bench – that’s two players in the squad that are surplus to requirements at the Hawthorns.

Karlan Grant remains the number one target for the Baggies, and they must go all out to secure his signature before Friday’s deadline – there isn’t a greater need than that right now.
